You’ve probably had a very long summer holiday and well deserved at that - amidst the stress of UCAS applications and dreaded A-Level Results Day. And after what feels like forever, the time has finally come to leave home for university.

You may be sitting there struggling to figure out how much to take with you to your new studio in Central London. Well, the good news is you have your own private bathroom and kitchen, so need to worry about sharing with anyone else. And what’s more, we at Herbal Hill Studios want to make this as hassle free a transition for you as possible. That’s why we have kitted your studios out with a brand-new student starter kit consisting of:

  • Crockery (kitchen plates and bowls)

  • Cutlery set

  • Hi-ball glasses

  • Utensils for cooking

  • Frying pan

  • Mattress

  • Desk

  • Chair

  • Table Lamp

  • Microwave/Grill

  • Toaster and Kettle

So now that we have the essentials down for you, the best place to start when packing your belongings at home would be to think about what makes you comfortable. What can you take with you all the way to the city that never sleeps, yet still feel like you’re at home?

Comfort is ideal. Let me rephrase that. Comfort is what will make or break your entire year. When you’re up studying late at night or coming home late from a night of enjoyment in Central London you will want to feel comfort. Our studios are designed in a unique way to make sure you have plenty of storage from wardrobes to wall units so you can store items away. You can start by making your living space comfortable by keeping the areas neat and tidy.

The mattresses provided are of luxury quality so a good nights sleep is not far away. You might be interested in good quality bedding so you can be prepared for long seminars and lectures.

Our studios are also equipped with your very own air conditioning units. Talk about luxury! Nothing beats a cosy room in the winter and a chilled room in the summer.

Our student accommodation also provides you with 24/7 security – so that you don’t need to worry about the big things; let us take care of that!

On the day you are moving, plan your journey head. Traveling with an enormous amount of luggage isn’t always ideal on public transport, but it may easily be the fastest way around Central London’s Zone 1 most of the time. Once you have reached us in our Farringdon office, our caretakers will help you with your luggage and we will show you around the building.

It may take you a while to get yourself organised and settled into your new studio but trust me it will be worth it! The staff at Herbal Hill Studios are on hand 24/7 for anything you may need – we can help you get to know the area or any other advice you may need.

Some major advice for the week you settle in would be to get yourself familiar with the Farringdon area i.e. the amenities in the area that you will need for day to day use.

You are very lucky because you are actually situated right in the heart of Central London with great transport links, Clerkenwell market (nationally renowned for top quality street food), Sainsburys and Tesco within ten minute walking distances and to top it all off, a very short commuting distance from your university!

When you’ve nailed down the basics, then start thinking about making friends. There are 50 students altogether at Herbal Hill and we will be holding a welcoming party on Friday 20th September so make sure you come down. During university Freshers Fair, sign up to any societies that interest you – they always hold very good events! Organise your university work – those wall storage units in your studio will look great with folders and books.

All in all, its going to be a great year ahead. So in between the moving and prepping for university start day, don’t forget to put your feet up and relax (not for too long though!). We are really looking forward to getting to you know all this year September 2019. See you soon!
